Message Since I couldn't figure out how to fit my SBC-iD in my steering wheel, I had to settle for replacing the stock boost and oil pressure gauges.

I wanted to integrate my boost controller somewhere, but since it has the current and peak boost display, I figured it could replace the stock gauge. It looked about the right size, so off we go. To complete the symmetry, I wanted to use the Blitz R-VIT, but it didn't get along with my car's ECU. Just search on the R-VIT if you don't know what I mean. SPL Parts was of course always understanding and allowed me to return it. So I settled for the Powermeter.

It took a lot of custom work and modifying ~$750 worth of electronics to get this all to fit. Not for the faint of anything. Removing the buttons and such from these is well, tedious. I used a microscope while soldering.

Lots of wiring, soldering, grinding, cutting, fitting, etc.

The odometer prevents the SBC-iD from fitting on the right. The idiot light area keeps the Powermeter from fitting on the left.

Since all my dash idiot lights are in the gauge cluster, there were these handy spots to the sides of the steering wheel where I relocated the buttons. Finding just the right buttons took a while too.

Nixit told me to use carbon fiber for trim pieces to make sure I didn't add too much weight. Uber tight!

To me, this was the best solution to keep things well integrated and stock looking. I was inspired by Shockwave's gauge modification from a while back, but wanted something easier to grasp. Also, there was a post from long ago where someone had tried to place an A/F gauge in the same spot. I never heard if it worked, but I figured it was doable. After months of work, this has got to be the most difficult mod I've done.

Phase 2, a Replacement for the now missing oil pressure gauge is next up.
